Service Summary
The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) is the leading education and advocacy organization for multidisciplinary cancer teams. Their annual National Oncology Conference, which just celebrated its thirty-first year, serves to keep the doctors, nurses, social workers and administrators that attend up to date on the latest oncological protocols. The conference also gives attendees an opportunity to share ideas on how best to stretch available resources to serve their communities. The 2014 National Oncology Conference offered attendees their first-ever desktop event app and mobile conference app, powered by Jujama. ACCC worked proactively to ensure attendee engagement with the event app in the run-up to the conference; adoption was heavy and response positive.
The First-Time App Selection Process
Marianne Gandee, Assistant Director of Provider Education for ACCC, said, “We were really glad we chose Jujama rather than a canned event application. We did consider a selection of app developers, but Jon, our Jujama contact, made us so comfortable with the app development process that it went very smoothly for us. Jujama was great in guiding us to pull relevant information together as we prepared for the conference, and then Jujama’s responsiveness during the event was super!”
Preparing to Succeed
Event app adoption by attendees is not a given, so ACCC took proactive measures to ensure that participants would get the most from their desktop event app and mobile conference app. ACCC incorporated messaging about the event app into their conference signage and marketing materials, and sent out emails ahead of the event, encouraging people to download the app and become familiar with its features. ACCC also made a point of educating their event team on the app so that team members could provide good support to participants before and during the event, especially at the Registration Desk, which is a universal point of contact with attendees. Thanks to this multi-pronged approach, the Jujama-powered ACCC mobile conference app enjoyed positive word-of-mouth at the event, which led to even greater adoption.
